German chocolate cake frosting
Ingredients
- 4 egg yolks
- 12 ounces evaporated milk
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup butter
- 2 2/3 cup shredded coconut
- 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
Directions
Beat the egg yolks, milk, and vanilla in a large saucepan with a whisk until well blended. Add the sugar and butter, then cook on medium heat 12 minutes or until thickened and golden brown, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat.
Add the coconut and nuts, and mix well. Cool to a spreadable consistency.
